Painting in Beautiful Ft. Bragg and Mendocino

Last week I had a great time painting in the Ft. Bragg/Mendocino area, with our Master Pastelist, Albert Handell.  Painting with Albert along the California coast is always so exciting, and always a big learning experience for me.  It is also a nice time because of the other painters that come to hone in on their skills, and take home one or two of Albert's pearls of wisdon.  I always feel I do improve while participating in the special mentorship of Albert Handell

"Lighthouse Cypress"  12x16 plein air pastel.

"Lighthouse Guardians" 11x14 plein air pastel.

"The Red Tug Boat" 11x14 plein air pastel.

During most of the week we painted  in and out of the fog.  The weather on the coast in the summer is quite fickle  but, the other side of the coin is that the fog provides the ability to paint atmosphere, as there is allot visible atmosphere to paint.

"Mendocino Evening Vista" 6x18 plein air pastel.

"Morning on the Bluff" 11x14 plein air pastel
"Mendocino Cypress"  11x14 plein air pastel.
