Banks vista - 6x6 plein air pastel.
Rocks & running water _ 6x18 plein air pastel.
On Wed. my friends Terry d Chacon and Lilli Miles accompanied me for a morning of plein air painting at a new location, Irvine Regional Park. We hiked over to a rocky area where a small river wound it way around the rocks and made that magical babbling sound. I attempted to paint the water as it crawled it's way around a group of big boulders in front of me. I am not sure the running water painting really worked, but before I left, I did the smaller 6x6 of the view behind me. This park has so many options of subject matter to paint, so we will go back there again very soon. Because this day was my birthday, my friends also treated me to a great lunch at a Mexican Restaurant that was recommended to us by another plain air painter we meet that morning. We had a great lunch, had fun talking and laughing, and ended the day with a stop at the cupcake shop in Riverside. Thanks Terry and Lilli, it was a great morning, doing what I love to do, painting in plein air at a beautiful location with wonderful friends. Wow, what a day, I guess getting older is not always a bad thing.
