Painting San Pedro Harbor

"San Pedro morning reflections" - 9x12 plein air pastel
Today I painted with our plein air group PAAR (Plein Air Artists of Riverside), our destination was the San Pedro Harbor/Maritime Museum of Los Angeles. It was an overcast day, and we spent quite a bit of time walking around and looking for a good painting site. Terry d Chacon, and Louise Smith and I ended up painting across from the museum area, where the fishing boats were docked. There were beautiful reflections in the water, when we started painting, and I was also attracted to a big teal boat, that had great reflections in the water. We each set up and started to paint. As soon as we had just got the boats sketched in, the main subject of my painting left!! Can you believe that !! the boat left. Well, I did my best to remember the reflections, and how it looked. Above I have included a photo when we started painting, and then one of us painting, and the teal boat is not here. Well, it was a good exercise in water reflections. All in all, it was a great day.
