Painting at Falkner Winery

Painting the vistas at Falkner Winery, Temecula, CA.

"Shady View"12x12 plien air pastel. This was the last of the 4 paintings I did this weekend standing in the shade looking out at the vista through the trees.

"Little red roof" 6x12 plein air pastel.
I painted this vista first, in the morning on Sunday. I loved the way the distant mountains had such atmosphere. At first I struggled with the colors to achieved the look, but in the end, I think it worked.
"Wine country vista, pm." 9x12 plein air pastel.
"Wine country vista, am" 6x8 plein air pastel.
This was the first view I painted on Saturday morning when we first go to Falkner Winery. We were surprised that the vineyards were still in their winter hibernation mode, so there was not any growth on any of the vines. This fun weekend was during wine tasting events in all the vineyards in the Temecula area, so there were lots of limos and bus loads of happy wine tasting visitors on the weekend. The Segil Fine Art Gallery organized the plein air painters to come and paint the event. Thanks to Laura Segal for organizing this fun event. Even though there was no greenery on the vines we enjoyed painting the vistas and the beautiful atmosphere.
