Burrage Mansion - "Treasures of Redlands" plein air event

Burrage Mansion morning - 8x10 plein air pastel.

"Bear clan" - 6x8 plein air pastel.
Today I painted with the Redlands Art Association plein air event, "Open air art for Open Spaces". This is a joint venture with the RAA and the Redlands Conservancy. Each year painters paint at designated sites, established by the conservancy. At the end there will be a show at the RAA Gallery, April 11-17. This time we are painting historic buildings in the Redlands area. Today the location was the beautiful Burrage Mansion. The teepee village is on the grounds of the mansion and is used by the Boys and Girls club of Redlands.

Redlands Conservancy - Horseshoe Ranch

Today was the final day to paint for the Redlands Conservancy/RAA Open spaces plein air event. As stated in a prior blog, this time we focused on Working Properties. Today we painted at a horse Ranch, "Horseshoe Ranch", a family owned horse ranch, with a friendly atmosphere, and lots of horses and riders practicing and exercising the horses. Also on the ranch are longhorn cattle. I was not able to get there very early, so when I got there, I knew I only had a short time to complete my painting. In front of me was this vista, with the little red barn, and the longhorn skull on the side of the barn. The shadows of the skull on the side of the barn, was quite interesting. Thus ends the Working Properties plein air event. On Sunday, May 2, from 2-4 pm will the the reception for the show at the Redlands Art Association, on State Street in Redlands, CA. Hope to see you there.
