Painting Whitewater preserve and Demo for United Society of Pastel Artists

Last week I painted again at the Whitewater Preserve, in Palm Springs. This is the second time the PAAR group have been invited to paint here. Next week there will be a show of these paintings at the preserve. This is the painting that will be in the show.

Next, on Thursday (11-10-11) I was honored to be the demonstrator at the United Society of Pastel Artists, at El Torro, CA. I decided to attempt to paint another painting from my recent trip to the Grand Canyon. Also at the demonstration, I spoke about painting in "Plein Air" and what supplies I take, and how I approach plein air painting with pastels.

Here I am with my finished painting at the demo, with USPA.
Painting during the demo..

Discussing my plein air supplies, and pastel easel.
A great experience, thank you fellow pastel artist of USPA, for allowing me to show you my approach to pastel painting en plein air.

I wish I could have been to your demo. I sure do miss painting in Southern California, and USPA. Both paintings are bold - I love your use of color.
