Painting at the Montague and Crystal Cove

"Crystal Cove glitter vista" 6x12 plein air pastel.

"Keyhole at the Montage" 9x12 plein air pastel.

On our regular plein air Wed., my friend Terry d Chacon and I headed to Laguna Beach in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day and the beach was busy with people playing in the water and the weaves at the beach. I have painted this view in the past, but this time I painted it from a slightly different angle. From my vantage paint I was still able to see through the archway in the rock. Through the keyhole or archway I could see a colorful beach umbrella, so I thought that would be an interesting focal point. After, finishing here, we drove over to the Crystal Cove State beach area, and walked around a number of different vistas, until settling on this one, looking into the setting sun. The setting sun was beautiful but blinding. Oh well, the difficulties of the life of a plein air painter. I'll keep the job.

Wonderful Pastel works. "Crystal Cove glitter vista", "Rocks and Weeds" I loved most.
