WOW!! what a great event this weekend, at the opening reception and events of the Women Artists of the West, 40th annual National Juried Exhibition - WAOWing the Golden State. The show was in the Olaf Wieghorst Museum and Heritage Center, in El Cajon, CA. If anyone is able to get by, it is truly a beautiful exhibition of art, representing 200 WAOW artists from all over the United States. The show can also be seen on the WAOW website, so check it out if you cannot see it in person. This is a photo of me with my two painting, that were juried into the show. Such an honor to be among such great artists.
On Saturday Morning, we had a one hour quick draw, it was quite a challenge to complete a painting in one hour, but I tried to keep it simple, thus I choose this cactus that was in the light and it seemed as all of the spines were shinning. this painting is also available for sale at the museum. In the afternoon, I also painted on the grounds of the museum, for the viewing public. Then to make things more fun, on Sunday a number of us went over to La Jolla and painted in the cove. The day was overcast, but very beautiful, and a nice change from the hot day of the quick draw and demo the day before. It has been a great weekend, meeting great artists, and enjoying all of the beautiful artwork.
