Crystal Cove Colors

"Crystal Cove morning colors" 6x18 plein air pastel
On Wed. morning, my painting buddie, Terry d Chacon and I headed out to paint the beach at Crystal Cove, one of our favorite spots to paint when the weather is heating up in Redlands. The morning was a slightly overcast day, but the sun would come out now and then. I decided I wanted to paint a scene of the beach with the people on the beach and all of the colorful umbrellas. Well, low and behold, right across from where I was painting, suddenly three large umbrellas popped up with chairs, and beach towels. What a treat, so this is my attempt at depicting that morning. I do think it worked, and I will try more of these scenes. After finishing painting, Terry and I walked up to the Beachcomber restaurant, there on the beach in Crystal Cove, and had a great lunch celebrating Terry's birthday. After that we drove over to Newport Back Bay to paint and afternoon scene there. I don't care for that painting, so will think about it before posting.
